We Will Publish Associated Airline Crash Report – DG, NAMA

As the post-mortem on the Associated Airline crash continues in the Nigerian Aviation industry, the Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Nnamdi Udoh has reaffirmed his agency’s commitment to ensuring proper insurance cover for all airline operators in Nigeria.

Controversies have trailed the actual status of the Associated Airline aircraft since it crashed in Lagos on October 3, 2013 with questions arising over if the aircraft had insurance cover. According to Mr Udoh, as far as the NAMA is concerned “every aircraft in this country must have a certificate of airworthiness inclusive of insurance, if you don’t have that then that aircraft shouldn’t fly”
‘’If you want to use aeroplane for charter services, go and get an appropriate insurance and duly inform the Director General of NCAA‘’
He declined to give categorical information on the Associated Airline insurance status being a matter still under investigation, but assured that as soon as the full investigation is complete, the full report will be published and if indeed the ill-fated aircraft did not have an appropriate insurance, his agency will tell Nigerians as they are committed to insisting that operators take responsibility for their actions.
Asked to clarify unconfirmed reports that more bodies were recovered from the rubbles of the Associated aircraft, contrary to the published manifest which recorded 20 people on board, Mr. Udoh denied knowledge of the allegations, claiming that as far as his agency is concerned there are no controversies as regards how many people that were on board the ill-fated flight.
