Super Eagles boss, Stephen Keshi, is not ruling out Fenerbahce of Turkey defender Joseph Yobo from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Keshi has said he plans to ensure Yobo reaches the 100th cap milestone before next summer’s World Cup and if again he proves he deserves a national team shirt, will of-course be flying on the plane to Brazil.
Joseph Yobo Will Get His 100th cap- Keshi.
“Yobo is very much alive in this team than any other player,” Keshi told MTNFootball.com. “Yobo and I spoke before the game (against Ethiopia) and our ambition is to make sure that he gets that 100th cap and by God’s grace he will get it.”
“Now the thing is will he be willing to come back? But he has said no problems. SO, why not, if he is here he would have his hundredth cap and if he is in shape, why not the World Cup?”
The former Everton and Olympique Marseille centre-back lost his first-team shirt to promising youngster Kenneth Omeruo at the 2013 Afcon in South Africa and injury to the latter hadn’t justified the need for the former to be brought back into the fold- rather Keshi had favoured Warri Wolves defender Azubuikwe Egwuekwe.
Yobo featured at the 2002 and 2010 World Cups in Korea and japan and South Africa respectively.
