The Real Madrid playmaker won the most votes ahead of striker, Miroslav Klose and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Bayern Munich’s Neuer is in contention for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, which comes up on Monday 12.
“To be voted as the best German player in a World Cup-winning year means a lot to me because it was voted for by fans from all over the world,” Kroos told DFB.de. “Actually, I’m not really a fan of individual awards because we can only win as a team in our sport. Therefore, I would of course like to thank the whole team that has worked so superbly over the past year.

All three nominees were in the Germany squad that claimed a fourth Fifa World Cup title in Brazil in July.
