David Moyes Bemoans Sociedad Draw: “We Had Enough Chances To Win It”

Manchester United manager David Moyes believes his side should have beaten Real Sociedad last night, admitting they ‘had enough chances to win it, especially in the second-half’.

United drew 0-0 with Sociedad as Robin van Persie missed a second half penalty. The Dutchman also hit the post from close range not long after Javier Hernandez bundled a chance over the crossbar from six yards out.

“We had enough chances to win it, especially in the second half. We controlled most of it, but for one or two moments, we were the team that was on top,” Moyes told ITV Sport.
Moyes brought van Persie on with half an hour to go who hit the post with his penalty after Ashley Young had, dubiously, gone down in the penalty area.

“It doesn’t happen too often, thankfully, with Robin. He’ll be fine.”
Marouane Fellaini put a dampener on the evening, though, as he was sent off for the first time in his Man Utd career since his £28 million move from Everton in the summer.
Moyes agreed with the decision to send off his Belgian midfielder: “I think it was totting up and at the end of the day we got the sending off which was really harsh because he [Fellaini] played well tonight.”
Despite the disappointing result, Moyes is still confident that his team can advance from the group stages.
“That was a game we should’ve won tonight. It was there for us to take the points and get ourselves in a really strong position and, near enough, get clear.

“We’ve not done that but we’re capable of doing that in the other games as well.”
